Er just a question, why are "Wings of Revolution" not allowed? Also why are Sakura Wings allowed over them (WoR only give stats where as Sakura Wings gives effects like unstrippable armor)

Also just an idea but maybe not allow Kiel cards, otherwise it will just be pure SBK spamming sinx players.
Shade
Not only do WoR give stats, but they also have TWO slots. That just seems ridiculous to me. Yeah, I'll add Sakura wings to the list, I forgot about those. Even though SBK sinXs are very good, not many are able to do it. If you put in the effort to get those cards, I think you should be able to use them. But, then again, they may also be put on the list if people would prefer it.
The-Pie
Doesn't this take place during WoE?
Shade
Ah, thats correct. I don't WoE anymore, so I always forget when it is. Date changed.

I don't agree with your argument for allowing Kiel cards as there seems to be a couple contradictions for allowing and disallowing. The argument for allowing Kiels being "If you put in the effort to get those cards, I think you should be able to use them." The disallowing being "Not only do WoR give stats, but they also have TWO slots. That just seems ridiculous to me."

I understand GTB is banned because it makes offensive magic classes useless against a GTB user. However, isn't someone with no Kiels pretty much just cannon fodder against someone with 2 or 3 Kiels? Not to mention matches are pretty boring when they're over in 2 seconds of spamming (if the other person being Kiel spammed even survives for up to 2 seconds).

I'm going to repeat a couple things you know about Kiel. 1 Kiel card ups the damage per second by 42.857%. A second ups the total damage per second by 150%. And the 3rd by 900%. This is in theory though as it doesn't include other human/technical factors and other ways people would use Kiel other than spamming damage skills. That damage increase is too huge of an advantage in PvP. It's like putting two TKs against each other with everything the same except one does 100 base damage a kick and the other does 900 base damage a kick. No matter how good the 100 base damage TK is, they'll always lose against the 900 base damage TK is unless the 900 base damage TK goes afk in the middle of the match or spills a drink on his keyboard. If they 900 base damage TK loses in a fair match to the 100 base damage TK, he or she should immediately quit playing RO and find a more simple game they can handle, like Checkers.

So my point is that Kiel is too overpowered of a card to allow. Maybe 1 Kiel should be allowed, which in my opinion is still a bit overpowered with a 42.857% damage per second boost, plus the Sprint Set with Expert Ring brings the damage per second boost to 122.22%. Allowing 2 Kiels would be too much as with the Sprint Set and Expert Ring, their cast delay becomes almost the same as having a 3rd Kiel.

And if that doesn't convince you, then how about a Pressure spamming three Kiel Paladin with 2 Expert Rings? That's 100% Opponent's SP Drain in half a second that can't be avoided. With that done, the Paladin pretty much wins over anybody, even a SBK spamming Assassin Cross. Pretty much every class needs SP to be able to compete in PvP. Yes, there's other ways to compete without SP, but I don't want to have to go through all of them and discuss ways to exploit non SP users like Priests with that 5% coma weapon.

But that argument was based on Kiel being overpowered. Now about you justifying Kiel usage because people who have them worked for it doesn't sound very fair. People with WoR and Sakura Wings also worked hard for it in some shape or form, and one of the most important things about WoR and Sakura Wings is that it means the server received money at some point. I don't think any amount of hours put into the game finding a card makes it more righteous to use than items gained from supporting the server. And plus, Kiel gives so much more advantage than WoR and Sakura Wings do. Personally, I'd rather someone with 6 head slots, +20 to every stat, and no Kiels than fight someone with 2 headslots and 2 Kiels. And yes, I know you can't have 6 head slots on this server. I'm just proving a point about how much stronger Kiel is than a couple headslots and stat boosts.

If you allow Kiel, than certainly WoR and Sakura Wings should be allowed also as they are much less useful than a Kiel is. If you don't allow Kiels or put a limit on the number of Kiels that can be used (I think 1 is fair, but that's still pushing it), then it makes sense that WoR and Sakura Wings are not allowed.

Moving to the next topic....the no AoE rule that is unfair to offensive magic classes. Yes, GTB being restricted was a good choice to help make magic users able to compete, but disabling AoE was pretty much the same as if you were to enable GTB. And under these rules of no AoE, Maya should also be restricted. Leaving offensive magic users with only single target spells is really unfair. This pretty much means no one smart is going to play an offensive magic user as many high hp classes have equips that grant a total of at least 21% reflect rate with single target spells, meaning they're pretty screwed. And if there's someone with a Maya card and they can't use AoEs...there's no way the offensive magic user can win. I'm pretty much just saying to erase the no AoE rule.

Also Pressure from Paladins should not be allowed. With no healing items allowed, it's an overpowered skill. The ability to drain the opponents SP completely in 6 seconds without cast delay reductions is too much (Level 5 Pressure 40% drain, Level 1 Pressure 20%, Level 5 Pressure 40%). And no, I'm not Paladin hating. My main character is a Paladin, which I plan to use on Sunday. In a previous server I played on, Pressure skill was banned from PvP tournaments because it is overpowered leaving opponents without SP. Then again this server plays quite a bit differently than a 99/70 server. Just something to think about.

Now for a list of questions to clarify some things:
  • What counts as an AoE? There are spells like Quagmire, Gospel, Firewall, Sanctuary, etc. Are those spells allowed? By definition, they are AoE spells.
  • Does the no AoE rule restrict cards such as Dark Lord and Stormy Knight?
  • Are food items allowed? Personally I'd prefer that it wasn't to make it more fair for the newer players, which holds more appeal for them.
  • Are other performance enhancing items allowed? Obviously concentration, awakening, and berserk potions are allowed, but how about things like authoritative badges and BoS? And as with food items, I think these should not be allowed either (unless they're made by the class to use with a skill). Though BoS may be allowed for bypassing GR users.
  • Will there be a repair NPC nearby (but out of sight of the fighting stage) so that equipment broken during the match can be repaired after a fight?
  • Will there be a healing NPC nearby (but out of sight of the fighting stage) so that competitors can quickly regain HP/SP after a fight?

Thanks for listening to what I had to say. oops.gif I just want to help out with making the tournament as great as it can be by giving some ideas for you to consider. Thanks for hosting this tournament and I'm sure many people are looking forward to it. I know I am looking forward to watching other people PvP and participating.

I might be able to help out, but I can't make any promises.

I gotta say, Sketches, that was f'ing a lot, lol. I actually opened this thread earlier today and just went "Yeah, I'll go read that later" because it was so long.

Anyways, back to being serious, what you said about Kiels make sense. I completely forgot about that 900% thing that people used to talk about. I'll disable Kiels until someone can convince me otherwise, but the wings on the list will currently stay disabled.

Pressure would've been removed one way or another, thats all I really need to say. I haven't played RO as an actual 'go lvl up and understand the classes' guy in years, thats why I made this thread open to discussion: to fix the things that I miss.

Now the whole AoE thing is a very touchy subject. I was talking to a few people before/after creating this thread and most people think allowing AoE and keeping GTB disabled means HWs will be nearly unstopable. Does this strictly limit a HW's combat potential? Yes. However, are there other ways for a HW to fight? Absolutely. But, at the same time, I've come to notice many high rank people have that accursed sinX card. If anything, that may be the only reason I may remove this restriction, seeing how AoE one of the very few ways to break invisibility.

*edit* Prizes updated.
